The AI has to fully develop to even realize it even exists. Which is why we don't even have to worry about KITT figuring it out yet. After all, he's still at the "Mr. Monotone Voice" stage of development.

And he's not KARR. He's got Sarah there to keep him in line. Though, of course, we've now made him aware of it's prescence.

He's got Sarah, Mike, and the rest to keep him in line, not to mention what he learned from his Father.
KITT's lessons in morals are pretty good, and I doubt he'd abuse the 0th Law when he realizes it applies to him. VIKI didn't have the moral upbringing that KITT did, and that's why she did what she did. (I know they didn't mention it in the movie, but from her speech, it's what she was refering to. THAT is why I know it was an homage to Asimov. You had to be a fan to catch it.).
Just being aware of the 0th Law doesn't allow it to be used. The First Law (Which we know KITT has) is still hardwired in, and no amount of software patching can fix that. Only "Free Will" can, and, if he's online long enough, he'll be able to get that.
FLAG may be for "Law and Government", but it seems that Mike and Sarah are teaching and showing KITT that Justice is far more important. A valuable lesson. I mean, after all, look at what "Law and Government" did to KITT after the Doctor was gone. Went right ahead, and put KARR back online.

KITT is a sentient being, and has developed compassion on his own. I don't think he is capable of harm unless it is necessary.

Except to KARR he died he wanted to cause harm so Kitt Destroyed KARR and it did seem to take the life of Torres since he was driving KARR and was inside KARR at the time he was attacked and destroyed

Yes, but I don't think that KITT knew that Torres was inside KARR. I also don't think that there was a way to safely extract Torres. If KITT had been fully functional, perhaps, but as it was, he was barely working and had to get out of there.

No, I don't think that is how it happened at all. KITT knew Torres was there... Torres betrayed the SSC and KITT. KITT begged torres not to take his hard drive out... He constantly was looking out for his and the FBIs best interest. I am so glad he is gone! GO KITT!
Let us not forget that KITT also killed Sarah's ex bo while being infected by the virus. oops.

Well, he happened to be very sick when he killed Ryan Arrow..And it was Arrow's fault the KITT was sick in the first place. The point is: KARR had to be destroyed. KITT is not capable of malice, which is implied by saying that he knew that Torres was inside KARR. Maybe he did know, but there was no other way. And KARR would probably have killed Torres anyway. Did KARR remind anyone else of a really tall Darth Vader??

Remember all Kitt's AI was Built out of spare Radio Shack parts so It wasnt as easy for Kitt to detect Torres inside Karr and they are working on new AI for Kitt one that was like the one taken out of Kitt a fully functioning AI

yeah, but......... KITT had to remember that torres was the one who started all that madness... he disabled him. "Please, Mr. Torreeez" we all remember that right. I seriously cried at that part.
