In real life, you are right elphie.
I know Wikipedi has a rep for giving bad info, but Im too lazy to search for it elsewhere lol xD
Anyway, according to Wiki: karma is the concept of "action" or "deed" and Through the law of karma, the effects of all deeds actively create past, present, and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy it brings to him/her and others.
But here on the boards, its like a rating of other users

Yeah. I know what cosmic karma is, which is why I was really confused about computer karma. How the hell can you do good internet deeds, and who tracks them? what?? but now I get it.

Ok. I'm getting what the karma is but what do the exalt and smite buttons do because they look like they do something with the karma by the preview address at the bottom of the window but I'm not understanding what they do.

Exalt shalt giveth thy person more Karma, while smoteing them shall remove said charity!
Basically put, if you think the person on the board is doing a good job, Exalt them for it. If they're being a jerk, smite 'em.

robw, I knew what real Karma was. It just didn't make since for a site, because who would keep track of good deeds and bad deeds? I think most of us get it now.

I seen this on other forums also except on this one forum it was a llama going around the page it could be a good llama or a bad one. The good one will add to your Karma and the Evil one will take it away and it will show good and evil llamas to every that you have run into with a / separating the two.
