This is a Transformers fan fiction that elphie and I role-played. I hope you guys like it!
Installment 1: The Protoform
“Alert. Alert. Unidentified object has landed half a mile from here,” Teletraan 1 said, soon after discovering the object falling from the sky.
“Can you get a visual, Teletraan?” Optimus asked.
A picture appeared, and then it started zooming in towards the object. “Object not identified. Possible protoform.”
“Thank you. We will investigate. Ironhide!” Optimus shouted.
“Right here, Prime. What’s up?” Ironhide said from behind him.
“There’s a possible Decepticon protoform that landed. I’d like you to go out and investigate it with me,” Optimus explained.
Just then, the twins came bouncing in, and Skids said, “We’ll go too! Let’s go!” at the same time, Mudflap said, “We goin’ with you, Prime!”
“I’m not watching over you two again. You get in trouble, you stay in trouble,” Ironhide said.
Bumblebee walked in right after them. “What’s going on?”
“Teletraan picked up a protoform landing. We are going out to investigate. You should probably come too,” Optimus explained, for the second time.
Elita One and Chromia came in and stood next to their guys. Elita by Optimus and Chromia by Ironhide. Chromia explained, “We want to come to in case that…thing…is hostile.”
Ironhide looked down at her. “What, you girls think we couldn’t handle it?” That got him a punch in the shoulder by Chromia.
“Knock it off, you two. Let’s get moving before it gets dark,” Optimus said, heading for the door.
They followed Optimus there, who had the coordinates from Teletraan 1. When they got there, the Autobots saw a giant smoking crater, with a protoform in the middle of it.
“Weapons up and approach cautiously,” Optimus whispered.
Mudflap laughed. “Let’s poke it.”
“Do not poke it,” Optimus commanded silently. At that moment, Ironhide grabbed Mudflap’s leg and held him in the air.
The protoform saw them and suddenly got in a defensive position. It appeared female. She looked very frightened.
Elita stepped forward, and then crouched down, so as not to frighten the tiny Transformer. “Hey, little one, it’s ok. We’re here to protect you.”
The protoform backed up a little, unsure if she could trust them.
Elita extended her hand then, trying to prove she wasn’t going to hurt her. “We won’t hurt you.”
The protoform stopped backing up and just looked at Elita One’s face for a moment. Then she looked in the faces of each of every Autobot. None of them seemed like they were lying, but she couldn’t tell very well anyway. She started to rise from her defensive posture. She stood up and was about to speak, when one of them moved.
Bumblebee moved to protect Elita, in case the protoform decided to strike. That caused the protoform to jump back, startled.
“Wait. You’ll frighten her,” Optimus whispered.
Elita One retracted her weapons. It didn’t seem like she would attack her. “Come here.”
The protoform looked back at Bumblebee and Optimus, and then looked again at Elita. She moved a little bit a forward, very slowly, still unsure about trusting them.
“Come along, little one, that’s it. We’re going to help you. We’re Autobots,” Elita said, quietly.
The protoform looked up at Optimus again, seeing his size. He was very large compared to her. He got down on one knee, trying to seem smaller and gentler. She goes a little farther, but still a good ways away from them, far enough she could possibly outrun them if it came to it.
Elita spoke again. “We’re good. We want to help you.”
The girlbot built up the nerve to speak. “Where…what is this place exactly?” It was very quiet, but it was enough to make it not feel so stressed around here. She wasn’t alone anymore. She kept slowly moving forward, too close to run away from all of them, but she didn’t care anymore. They seemed like they were telling the truth.
Mudflap and Skids were trying extra hard to stay still. Mudflap was still hanging upside down in the air.
“This is Earth. My name is Elita One. What’s yours?” Elita asked.
“My name is Firefly. This place is so much different than Cybertron…” She looked around, taking it all in.
Elita was still crouching with her hand extended. “It is different, but very beautiful too.”
Then Optimus spoke up. “I am Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots. What are you doing here? Did something happen?”
Firefly nodded. “It just keeps getting worse at Cybertron.” She shuddered, remembering what happened before she left. “I was training to be a guardian on Cybertron…but…but my school was…was…blown up.” She paused for a few moments, and then went on. “The sentinels told us to go into protoform and take off, and they gave us coordinates. But I was the only one who made it here. Everyone else didn’t even make it out of the building.”
Optimus whispered to Elita, “We have to take her back to base. She’s in danger out here.”
Elita nodded and turned back to Firefly. “Was it Decepticons?”
Firefly nodded. “It felt very…different…being alone.” She spoke very softly, not wanting to remember it.
“You need to come with us back to base. We’ll protect you,” Elita said.
“Protect me from what?” Firefly asked.
Elita reaches out farther, almost touching her. “Come here.” She and Optimus exchanged a glance at her innocent question. They were surprised when Ironhide answered.
“Well, lil bit, the Decepticons are here, too. We're fightin' them, but they probably saw you land, and they're gonna be comin' for you, too, just like we did. We gotta get you out of here so they won't hurt you." He spoke softly and gently, surprising everyone. He set Mudflap down, hoping he would stay as still as he did in the air.
Then Bumblebee spoke up. “You can trust us. We won’t hurt you.”
Firefly shuddered again. “Those Decepticreeps. I-I’m gonna get them someday. They hurt every…everyone I knew.”
Ironhide growled. “We’ll get them. I promise.”
Chromia, who was standing behind him, came around Ironhide and said, “Please come with us. There's not much time. We need to have our medic be sure you're okay. You might be hurt and not know it."
Firefly looked up, her eyes just a bit happier, lighter. "I trust you guys...I'll go." she said, not too sure, but she felt like she could trust them. As she tried to move forward to join them, she stumbled, almost landing flat on her face, but Elita caught her before she could.
“Let’s get out of here,” Elita One said.
Ironhide looked down at Firefly. “Do you have a vehicle mode yet, little one?”
She shook her head and then Elita said, “You can trans-scan mine, but change the color. We'll get you a new one later if you need it.” Elita transformed into a pink mini cooper. Firefly scanned her and changed it to a blue green color. She transformed, and so did everyone else, who started rolling for base.
This is only Part 1. I haven't decided how I'm dividing it up, but I'll make sure to post it all.

PART 2- BEES STING
When the Autobots and Firefly got back to base, they all transformed and Ratchet was waiting for them. Firefly was still a bit unsteady as she transformed. “What do we have here?” Ratchet said, looking at the new tiny robot.
“This is Firefly. She came in as a protoform. We need you to check her out, to make sure she’s ok,” Optimus explained.
Ratchet leaned down, so that he was at eye level to her. “I am the medical officer. Do I have permission to examine you and be sure you’re okay?” Firefly nodded her head. “Come with me then.” The two walked to his workshop, where he began the examination.
Optimus turned to Ironhide and Chromia. “Ironhide, you and Chromia go fill in the others on what’s happening.” After they left, he turned to Elita. “I’m going to see if Teletraan 1 can confirm her story.”
“Do you think she’s lying?” Elita One asked.
“I don’t think she is, but we can’t be too careful,” he explained.
Mudflap piped up then. “What are we gonna do? Huh?”
Skids punched his brother, saying, “Hey, he’s the leader man. Don’t bug him.”
“Go talk to Skyfire. I’m sure he’s bored,” Optimus said, just trying to get rid of them. He felt bad a little for Skyfire though. They wouldn’t leave him alone after that. The twins ran off, punching each other the whole time.
“Yes, but they’re irritating. You and Bumblebee stay here and guard the little one. Try to make her feel comfortable,” Optimus said, walking off towards Teletraan 1.
Bumblebee grumbled. “Stuck on guard duty again. Great.”
“It shouldn’t be that bad. She looks about your age too. Maybe you two could be good friends later on,” Elita said. Bumblebee glared at her. “What?”
“I don’t think so. She’s even shorter than I am!” Bumblebee said.
“I was just making a suggestion for you to try to be-” Elita started to explain.
“Well, keep your suggestions to yourself. I don’t need anyone,” Bumblebee interrupted. He began to search radio stations for something to keep him busy while he waited.
“Ok Mr. I Can Handle Myself,” Elita One said.
“What, do you think I need someone to love? Like in that human song?” Bumblebee said, referring to the song “Someone to Love” by Queen.
“I don’t know. It might be good for you.” Elita shrugged.
“So I can end up like Ironhide and Chromia, knocking the crap out of each other every day? No thanks,” Bumblebee said.
“It doesn’t always end up like that. Do you see me and Optimus fighting and making up sporadically?” Elita questioned.
“No, but I see what happens every time you part. You should’ve seen Optimus when he thought you were dead. I never thought he’d recover,” Bumblebee explained. “I never want to be that dependent on somebody.” Bumblebee started to pace down the hall.
“Bumblebee, you’re missing the point.” Elita shook her head.
“There’s a point?” Bumblebee asked, rudely.
“Yes, a big one. You’re only looking at the negative side of it. Sometimes you have to compare-” Elita explained, interrupted by Ratchet and Firefly coming out of his workspace.
Ratchet filled them in on what he learned. “Her energy level is low, but other than that, she’s okay. She really just needs rest, after recharging.”
Elita replied, “We’ll take her to recharge and let her power down.”
Firefly looked at the two of them and said, “I can HEAR YOU, ya know.”
Bumblebee snorted and tried not to laugh.
“Bumblebee, why don’t you take her to recharge? Elita, I need to talk to you,” Ratchet suggested.
Bumblebee grumbled, but then said, “Come on, Firefly. I’ll take you to the recharging chambers.”
Ratchet started explaining to Elita before they even left, “Elita, come here, I want to show you her scans.”
“What’s there to see?” Firefly asked innocently.
“Just how pretty you are,” Ratchet lied. He figured that wouldn’t keep her from asking questions long, but they were gone before she could ask another.
“Come on, small fry. Follow me,” Bumblebee said, acting bored.
“Don’t call me ‘small fry,’” Firefly said, slightly angry.
“Well, whatever you are, follow me, or you won’t be able to stand up much longer,” Bumblebee said.
Firefly looked at his feet, wondering if she could smush one good enough to make him feel pain.
“I didn’t mean like that! Look, Ratchet said your power was low. If you don’t recharge, you’re gonna fall over,” Bumblebee explained.
“Fine. Whatever,” Firefly said, rudely. Bumblebee obviously wasn’t the nicest of the bunch.
Bumblebee began to play “Imaginary” by Evanescence through his speakers to drown her out, but she didn’t say anything. She just looked at him, and then looked down when he looked at her. She wanted to know what his problem was.
Meanwhile, back in Ratchet’s workspace, he was explaining what he found. “Elita, I deep-scanned her. You’ve got to see this.” He put the image from the scan up on the little screen he had. “Did you happen to notice her integrated weapons system? She is one heavily armed autobot. Flame thrower, heat seeking missile, the works. She can fly, too.”
“No wonder she’s the only one who made it out…” Elita One said, wondering how so many weapons could fit on one tiny robot.
“I don’t doubt that she’s an autobot-no sign of decepticon programming-but she’s way stronger than she looks.” Ratchet turned away from the screen and looked right at Elita. “Just be careful until we know her better. She’d be the wrong one to have anger management problems.”
Elita turned to head out the door. “I’ll go tell Optimus.”
From a different part of the compound, Skyfire yelled at the twins. “I don’t care what Optimus told you! Go away!”
“Good thing HE doesn’t have anger management problems, or we’d all be dead,” Elita joked.
Meanwhile, Bumblebee was helping Firefly with the recharge chambers. “These are a bit different than the ones on Cybertron, since we had to build these out of spare parts.”
“Well they look close enough,” Firefly said, shrugging.
“But they’re not. Get in, and I’ll set it up. Otherwise, you’ll fry yourself,” Bumblebee bossed.
She put her hands up, as if surrendering. “Ok, ok, don’t be so pushy.”
He clenched his jaw and tried to be nice. “I'm going to set it for a full recharge. It won't take too long. When you're done, send for me, and I'll show you somewhere you can power down for a while. You should probably also run a self-diagnostic in case Ratchet missed something."
She nodded and started to get into the chamber. Bumblebee tried to help her in, but she swatted him away. “Sorry, I thought you’d be a little wobbly,” he explained. The lid closed, and he whispered so she wouldn’t hear, “Careful, next time I’ll lock you in there.” He looked down at her for a moment, then shook his head and turned away. He sat against a wall and powered down to wait for her.
Bumblebee was suddenly awakened by a transmission from Firefly. She was done recharging, and was freaking out because she couldn’t get out. “Get me the heck out of this thing! Hello! Bumblebee! Get me outta here!”
He fumbled at the lock. “Stop squirming! I’ll get you out! I TOLD you these were different! STAY STILL!” He finally managed to get the lid off and she jumped out.
“You could’ve TOLD ME I wasn’t gonna be able to get out!” Firefly yelled. She couldn’t get mad at him. She had to calm herself down. She looked down at the floor and counted to ten, and she was calm enough to go on.
“I tried. Come on, I’ll take you somewhere where you won’t be bothered. There’s no lock on THAT door,” Bumblebee explained. He led her to an empty room where they usually used for badly injured autobots. “This is our recovery room. Power down your heat-sensitive circuitry and run a self-diagnostic. I’ll be right outside if you need me.”
“Thanks, but I think I’ll manage.” Firefly wasn’t totally happy with him yet, so it came off kind of rude. She walked in and the door shut behind her. Bumblebee almost pressed the ‘lock’ button, but didn’t.
Elita came up behind Optimus and grabbed his hand. He was reading Teletraan 1’s screen. “Finding anything?”
“Nothing much, just enough to prove she’s not lying.” Optimus started reading from the screen. “About one Earth week ago, a small guardian academy was attacked by Shockwave and a bunch of other Decepticons. The building was leveled. Apparently, everybody put up a good fight, but it seemed no one had survived. It doesn’t quite make sense why it was only HER to make it out.”
“Well, Ratchet told me a bit about her. She is very heavily armed. That’s probably why she made it,” she explained.
“She’s not documented as being one of the dead, but there were a few Autobots who could not be identified.” Elita nodded, and it was silent for a few minutes.
“I had Bumblebee take care of her. Maybe they will hit it off,” Elita said.
“No chance,” Bumblebee said as he walked in. Optimus quickly blanked the screen and he and Elita whirled around.

PART 3- TRUTH THAT SHOULDN’T MATTER
Elita asked, “How is Firefly?”
“She's just fine. Back to her normal self, I'm assuming. She is a big smart-alek,” Bumblebee said. “What was that?”
Optimus tried to come up with something. “Nothing. Just scanning the…uh...radio...um…looking for Decepticon activity."
Bumblebee laughed. “You’re a terrible liar.”
Elita snickered. “Are you calling me a liar?” Optimus questioned. Elita turned away to keep from laughing.
“Well it is very obvious you aren’t telling the whole truth,” Bumblebee said.
Optimus waved his hand toward the door. “Go…go…do something other than ask questions. See if Ironhide needs help in the armory.”
“And now you’re trying to get rid of me, but I‘ll go, since you ARE the leader and all,” Bumblebee said, leaving the room.
When he was gone, Elita swatted Optimus on the back of the head. “Why didn’t you tell him?”
“He doesn’t need to know. Not until we know more about her,” he said, looking at the screen again.
“And I’m just wondering, how do you know he’s not still listening?” Elita asked.
Optimus froze and scanned the area for Autobots. “Bumblebee! Get out of here!”
Elita shook her head. “I’m the only smart one who checks these things.”
Back in the recovery room, Firefly had just woken up and realized she was alone. She sent a transmission to Bumblebee and he walked in a few minutes later, the sudden noise sending her shrinking back into the corner. “Hey, it’s just me, Bumblebee. Are you feeling any better?” Firefly nodded. “Good. Do you want a tour? You can meet the rest of the gang.”
‘Wow, he’s actually being nice to me,’ Firefly thought. “Ok, sounds fun.”
“There’s only two other females, so you might wanna hang with them,” Bumblebee explained. ‘I hope she’ll just latch on to Elita and leave me alone now,’ he thought.
When they got to the armory, she perked up. “This is where we keep most of our guns and ammo,” he explained.
Firefly started looking around at all the different guns. “Long range fusion cannon?” She ran her hand along the giant gun. “Sweet. Packs a wallop. Oh LOVE the flash grenades, and you can’t beat Energon blades for hand-to-hand combat.”
Bumblebee’s jaw dropped. “How do you know all that?”
“I was training to be a guardian, remember?” she asked. She saw a missile, hissed, and jumped back. “That looks just like the ones used on my school.”
“Ok…you’re a little creepy with the weapons knowledge…” he said.
“Sorry, I guess that’s a side of me that’s a bit…unexpected. I don’t really think too much about what people see me as,” Firefly explained.
“That’s good. Keeps you from being too self-centered,” Bumblebee said. “It's getting dark, or I'd show you around outside. We try not to leave the ship after dark so we don't bother the local animals."
“It’s ok. There’s always tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that, and…you get my point,” she explained.
He got a bit angry then. “Oh, so you are STAYING? I thought you might want to go back home to Cybertron.”
“I’m not sure that I can.” She looked a bit hurt. He obviously didn’t like her. Again, she wondered what his problem was. That time she DEFINITELY said something he didn’t like, but what she said shouldn’t have made him angry. She didn’t know what to think. “And I thought you were going to be nice. Guess I was wrong.”
“Oh, shut up, small fry. I didn’t ask to be your babysitter,” he complained.
“Hey, you’re the one who suggested the tour, not me.” Firefly held her hand up, palms outward, kind of like she was making an “I don’t know” sign.
“Look, I’m sorry. I really am. But there’s nothing we can do about it. Optimus and the rest of us are trying to protect the humans from Megatron. They’re helpless against him,” Bumblebee explained.
“I’ve never seen a human before…” Firefly said, while he went on.
“On second thought, let’s go outside. Maybe a bear will eat you. WHAT?!” He looked at her strangely. “You’ve NEVER seen a human before?”
“I just got here…remember?” she reminded him.
“Not even in a picture? Or a video?” He grabbed her arm and started pulling her towards the door that lead outside. “Come on.”
“Hey, let go of my arm. Where are you taking me?” Firefly asked. “Come on! I can move on my own, ya know! Let go! Stop dragging me and let me walk on my own!”
“I’m going to take you to see Jazz. He’s the authority on human culture,” Bumblebee explained.
“Ok, so can you let my arm go now? You’re holding on a bit tight.” She struggled to make him release it.
He let go and said, “Fine, but don’t run off.”
“I won’t. Humans sound kind of interesting. I want to learn about them.”
Jazz was just sitting outside, looking up at the stars and listening to rock music. “Hey, ‘Bee! What’s crackin’? This the new girl?”
Bumblebee explained, “She’s never seen a human before, and I thought you could help her out.”
Firefly grumbled sarcastically beside him, “This isn’t embarrassing at all…”
“Well I can help you out there. What kind of movies do you like?” Jazz asked.
“Ummm…romance, probably,” she said. Bumblebee groaned at the word ‘romance.’
“You got it, little lady.” Jazz started projecting the movie “Twilight” on the ground, so she could watch it. Firefly watched it with interest.
Bumblebee tried to sneak away without being noticed, but she caught him. “See ya later, Bumblebee. I’m sure you’ve got better stuff to do.”
Bumblebee froze at the sadness in her voice, and he cursed quietly. “Nah, I‘ll stay. I like this movie,” he said, totally lying.
Firefly smiled. “Yay!”
Bumblebee transformed to Camaro mode, because he was bored. He sat quietly, while Jazz and Firefly had an animate discussion about the movie.
“I like the action-oriented stuff, myself,” Jazz said. “This romantic stuff isn’t exactly my cup of lubricant.”
“Yeah, I understand that. I like them for their happy endings.” She looked a little gloomy, but put another smile on her face. ‘The ones I’ll never have,’ she thought.
Two hours later, the movie is close to the end, and a coyote howls. “What was that?” Firefly asked, suddenly a bit scared.
Bumblebee transformed back to robot mode. “It’s just a local animal; harmless.” He jokingly brought out his cannon. “I’ll protect you, midget.” Firefly laughed.
“We’d best get inside. Don’t want to upset them,” Jazz suggested.
Another coyote howled and Firefly asked, “I wonder why they make such a strange sound.”
“Honestly, I don’t know. Skyfire might be able to tell you, though,” Bumblebee said, as all three walked back inside the building.
“I might ask him later then,” she said.
Jazz spoke up, so he could warn her, “Skyfire’s kinda big, but don’t be afraid of him. He’s a gentle giant.” Firefly figured he just meant he was kinda big, as in, a bit bigger than Optimus.
Skyfire then walked around the corner and she looked up in awe of his height. “Someone talking about me?” he asked.
“Woh…” was all Firefly got out. “You weren’t kidding when you said he was big…” She came up to his knee, and it seemed like he was ten times bigger than what she had originally thought.
Skyfire knelt down, but he still looked tall. “Hello. I’ve heard about you.”
Firefly recovered herself and said, “Hi. I hope it was good things you heard.”
Skyfire exchanged a look with Jazz, knowing her capabilities.
PART 4- DON’T LET THE MUSIC BURN YOU
Bumblebee spoke up. “Firefly had a question for you.”
“Oh um yeah. I was wondering why the uh coyotes, was it? Well I was wondering why they made that sad, howling noise,” Firefly said. “It kinda sounds like a stupid question now. It is probably just the noise they make.”
“Yes, it’s one way they communicate,” Skyfire said. He offers her his hand. “Oh, and my name is Skyfire, if you didn’t already know.”
She shook his pinky, since it was the only finger she could really shake with one hand. “They told me, but it’s nice to meet you Skyfire.” Skyfire asked, “Would you like to learn more about Earth? I can teach you, if you want.”
“Yeah, that’d be nice. Thanks,” she said.
Bumblebee, looking clearly relieved, said, “Firefly, you can go with him. I'm going to go see if Optimus needs help on guard duty."
“Oh, ok. See you later then,” she said, sounding sad.
Jazz nudged Bumblebee and motioned toward Firefly. Bumblebee gave a pleading look in return and shook his head.
Skyfire, feeling just a tad evil, said, “Bumblebee, you can come with us, if you like. Your knowledge of Earth’s music could be helpful in her education.”
Bumblebee hesitated, trying to come up with a way out of the situation.
“Oh, would you Bumblebee?” Firefly said, happily.
He glanced back at Jazz again, who was laughing. “Go with her, ‘Bee. Won’t do any harm.” He started laughing again.
Firefly cocked her head to one side. “What’s so funny?” she asked innocently, although she thought she knew the answer.
Jazz looked at her, and then stopped laughing immediately.
“FINE. But someday you’re going to have to go somewhere without me.” Bumblebee silently cursed.
Firefly whispered to herself, “That’ll be a sad day.”
Bumblebee then said, relenting, “I’m coming. I’m coming.”
Firefly and Skyfire started walking towards his workshop, while ‘Bee smacked Jazz. “I’m going to get you back for this one.”
Jazz laughed again. “Hey, she likes you. Isn’t it obvious?”
Bumblebee sent a transmission to Elita One. “Hey, where are you?”
She replied, “With Optimus by Teletraan 1, why?”
“Just wanted to know so when I come to kill you, I can find you,” Bumblebee stated.
“Bad idea, Bumblebee. What’s going on?” Optimus asked.
“Thanks to Elita, Firefly’s latched onto me like Cybertronian rats on an Energon spill,” Bumblebee accused.
“That was her choice, not mine. She could’ve just hated you,” Elita said.
“I would RATHER she hated me,” Bumblebee complained.
“Bumblebee let her be. She has been through a lot,” Optimus said, hoping Bumblebee doesn’t decide to do something stupid and make her angry. That would not go so well.
Bumblebee complained, “Then YOU take care of her! There’s got to be something wrong with her programming!”
“That’s enough, Bumblebee. You are charged with looking after her until she is comfortable here. That is my final word on the matter.” Optimus cut the connection.
Elita questioned, “Did you do that just to annoy him?”
“Would I do that?” Optimus asked her.
“Maybe…” she replied.
He shook his head. “I believe they have a lot to learn from each other.”
Meanwhile, in the hallway, Firefly stopped because she realized ‘Bee wasn’t following. Skyfire stopped too. Bumblebee was looking at Firefly, wondering if he could short out her vocal circuit before she got a shot off. “You’re staring at me…and you don’t seem that happy either. You ok?” she asked.
“I’m fine. How are you holding up?” he replied, faking he was happy.
“I’m fine…” she said, not believing everything was fine. She really wanted to know why he hated her so much. When she turned away again, he made a choking motion.
Firefly and Skyfire went on again, while ‘Bee paused to check his power meter. His power was a bit low, but nothing critical yet.
“We lost someone again,” Firefly said, turning around. “Bumblebee?” Just then, Bumblebee started walking forward and knocked his head on a beam.
“Ouch…forgot that was there,” he said, rubbing his head.
Firefly giggled. “You okay?”
“Yeah, just perfect,” he said, not really meaning it.
She kept looking at him for a few moments, trying to figure out the reason for his hatred against her, but then she turned around and started walking again. Bumblebee followed them.
When they finally got to Skyfire’s shop, Bumblebee sat on the floor against the wall. Firefly was quietly thinking about ‘Bee again, still wondering why he didn’t like her. She doesn’t want to call him ‘Bee out loud, in case that would ever upset him.
He ran a repair sequence on his forehead, hoping he didn’t smack himself too hard. Firefly came over and knelt in front of you. “I think you got something on your head.” She reached out and brushed her fingers along his forehead. “Oh, just dust…never mind.” There was an awkward silence, and ‘Bee just stared at her. “Sorry, I thought you were hurt.” She got up and went over to where Skyfire was standing.
Bumblebee muttered to himself, “This is SO not good.”
Skyfire looked at Firefly and asked, “How good are you at absorbing information quickly?”
She shrugged. “I think I can handle it.” "Ok, I'm going to tune in to three different human information channels, and I just want you to watch and learn as much as you can. All right?" he explained. She nodded. He tuned into Discovery Channel, History Channel, and Animal Planet. “You can sit here,” he said, pointing to an enormous chair that was in front of the computer console. “And just learn as much as you can.”
Firefly was quiet as she focused on watching all of them at the same time. Bumblebee was quiet as he watched her, then he powered down some of his own circuitry. Skyfire wandered around, tinkering with an invention of his.
It was an hour later, and she piped up. “I think I’ve watched enough for now.”
‘Bee looked up at her and suggested, “You could listen to some music.”
“Tune into a station and play some for her,” Skyfire said.
Bumblebee started playing the music and the first thing that came on was “Gives You Hell” by the All-American Rejects.
Firefly gave him a look. “What’s THAT supposed to mean?” She thought of it as him saying he didn’t care and that he hopes she would feel terrible every time she saw him.
“Nothing, it was the first song I found,” Bumblebee said. As he kept playing the song, she kept listening to the lyrics, and feeling there was some reason for why he played that song, she became sad and looked at the floor. Bumblebee felt ashamed of himself and turned on “Fireflies” by Owl City.
Firefly liked the way this song sounded and started doing a little dance. Skyfire chuckled and ‘Bee tried NOT to find it charming. She stopped dancing and sat down again when the ending played. It wasn’t a very happy ending: “because my dreams are bursting at the seems” but she tried to forget about it.
After the song ended, Bumblebee said, “Ok, how about something different?” and he turned on “Disturbia” by Rihanna.
“This song sounds really cool,” Firefly said. She tried to mimic the “bum bum bee dum bum bum bee dum bum” but it came out “dum bum ee um dum dum dee bum um.”
At that moment, ‘Bee’s power meter beeped, but he ignored it. The song ended and then he asked, “How about this one?” and played “Losing Control” by Evanescence.
“Woh…is that even a human voice?” Firefly asked. “It sounds so weird…but cool.”
“Yeah, Jazz likes this one because it’s so electronic-sounding,” ‘Bee explained. Firefly didn’t say anything more, just listened to the songs and the lyrics. It was like he was taunting her, trying to make her feel bad.
“Replay” by Iyaz came on next, and again, it didn’t make her feel very good. She was silent as she listened, and she wished that Bumblebee felt that way about her. ‘Bee noticed the song made her very sad, so he switched to “No Good Deed” from the musical Wicked, sung by the witch, Elphaba, hoping it would make her feel better. It really only made her feel worse.
PART 5- SET THE FIREFLY FREE
Skyfire spoke up. “Bumblebee, wasn’t that your power meter earlier? You should really go and recharge.”
Bumblebee tried to stand up, but he sat back down because his mind was in a cloud of dizziness. Firefly asked, worriedly, “Are you okay? Do you want me to help you to the recharging station?” He shook his head and stumbled to his feet. “Ok, see you later.” She didn’t sound sad at all; she wanted him to recharge. “Firefly. Firefly? Hello?” Skyfire was trying to get her attention, as she just stared out the door, which then shut behind Bumblebee. “Skyfire to Firefly. Come out of whatever mental stasis you’re in.”
Firefly turned around. “Oh sorry…” She was still worried about ‘Bee.
“Would you like to watch a little more? Bumblebee won't be back for a few minutes,” Skyfire asked. She nodded, and Skyfire noticed her worried look. “He'll be fine. He's a tough little guy. He just went too long between charges.”
Firefly smiled. “Okay.”
Out in the hall, Optimus was walking up the hall, when Bumblebee stumbled out of the room and collided with him. “Oh sorry,” ‘Bee said.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” Optimus asked.
Bumblebee explained, “I was watching over Firefly, and I didn’t have time to recharge.”
“How is she?” Optimus asked.
“Prime, I’ll tell you later. Right now, I have to go recharge or I’ll go into stasis lock. Please move,” ‘Bee explained.
Optimus moved out of his way and peeked into Skyfire’s workshop. Firefly was so absorbed in the shows, she didn’t notice him, and he debated bothering her. “Hello Firefly. Feeling better?”
“Yeah, I think I’m almost perfectly fine. Did you know that human shows could be so interesting?” she asked.
Optimus chuckled. “Actually, I did, but I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying yourself.”
Firefly smiled. “Thanks for checking up on me.”
“Just wanted to see how our newest member was doing. You're in good hands with Skyfire,” Optimus said.
“BIG hands,” Skyfire joked.
Firefly laughed, and then said, “Oh, what’d they just say? Darn it. Oh it is just commercials.”
“Recycle all metal to save the environment!” the TV said.
“Ummm…no thanks, I need mine,” Firefly joked. Skyfire laughed and turned so she couldn’t see him. “I can still hear you.”
Optimus said, “You can come with me, if you want, and have a tour.” He didn’t know that Bumblebee had already done that.
“Bumblebee already did that. He was nice to me THEN,” Firefly said.
Optimus hoped he heard wrong. “What do you mean? Bumblebee is always nice.”
“Hmmm…then I must’ve done something he didn’t like.” She sighed. “Can’t win everybody.”
Skyfire turned around, surprised. “Firefly, what are you talking about? Bumblebee isn’t mean.”
“Wow, I wonder what I did to make him mad…” Firefly said, trailing off at the end, thinking again.
“I have yet to see Bumblebee angry. What are you talking about?” Optimus asked again.
“He said that we should just go outside, and he could let the bears eat me,” Firefly explained.
Optimus and Skyfire at the same time asked, “WHAT?” Optimus stormed off to find Bumblebee, and Firefly followed him.
“Wait, wait, maybe I did something,” she said. “Maybe I said something wrong.”
“I can’t imagine what you’d say that would make him wish a bear would eat you,” Optimus said, angrily.
Elita came out of a room and met them in the hall. “Optimus, slow down! What’s going on?”
“I’m going to-to-to do SOMETHING to Bumblebee,” he said.
Elita grabbed his arm. “OPTIMUS STOP!”
Firefly tugged on his hand and said, “It must’ve been me, if he’s not usually mean to any of you…”
Elita glanced down at her. “I think it’s my fault. I made him guard you, when he didn’t want to.”
“That shouldn’t matter,” Optimus said, still very angry at ‘Bee.
“Well, there has to be a reason WHY he doesn’t want to,” Firefly reasoned.
Elita tried to avoid answering. “He just...doesn't…um...doesn't like....he thought he'd be bored."
Firefly gave her a look. “Well it obviously isn’t that.”
Optimus turned to Elita. “What did you say to him?”
Firefly sighed, getting angry at herself for causing so much chaos. “Love is so destructive. I like someone, and they get blown up because of me. I like someone else, and I’m causing THIS!”
Elita said, “I told him…Firefly, WHAT did you just say?” She looked down at the tiny robot. “Love? Oh this is all my fault!”
Firefly suddenly just grew so frustrated, she screamed and took off towards the door. If she was going to go insane, she wasn’t going to do it there. She didn’t want to destroy anything. She’d already done enough damage.
As she was running towards the door, Ironhide caught her and picked her up. “Slow down, little one.”
She looked into his face, pure anger covering hers. “LET ME GO!!!”
“I’m four times the size you are. I’m not letting’ go,” Ironhide said calmly.
“IF YOU DON’T LET ME GO, I SWEAR I WILL…I WILL…” Firefly started to threaten, breaking off in a scream.
“You’ll what?” Ironhide laughed. She couldn’t do anything to stop him. She was so tiny.
Optimus and Elita ran up behind him. “Ironhide, be careful!” Optimus yelled.
Ironhide just looked at them. “She can’t hurt me, or did you not notice how tiny she is?”
Firefly brought out some of her guns. “LET ME GO, OR I SWEAR I’LL SHOOT YOU!”
Ironhide dropped her in surprise. “WHERE ON CYBERTRON DID YOU GET THOSE?!”
Firefly ran off towards the door again, as Elita explained. “Ironhide, she was training to be a guardian. She has multiple, advanced weapons systems.”
“And anger management problems,” Optimus added. Firefly was nowhere to be found inside the building.
Bumblebee came outside to check out all the noise. “Hey, what’s going on? I heard screaming.”
“GO AWAY!” Firefly screamed at him, running off before he could see her. She hadn’t seen him either, just heard his voice. She leaped in the air in robot mode and flew away.
PART 6- THE STINGING FIREFLY
“Wait! Firefly! Come back!” Bumblebee screamed after her.
Optimus grabbed Bumblebee’s arm and spun him around. “What did you do to her?”
Elita tried to calm Optimus down. “Optimus, it’s not his fault. She’s unbalanced. Teletraan told us that.”
Bumblebee looked totally freaked out. “I didn’t do anything! I could’ve been more welcoming, I suppose-”
Optimus interrupted. “Well, she’s gone now!”
Elita tried to explain. “Bumblebee, there’s something you don’t know about Firefly.”
“What now?” ‘Bee asked.
“She has advanced weaponry integrate. She also has a glitch in her programming that makes it difficult for her to hold her temper,” she explained. "It's why she was able to escape the Decepticons, when everyone else was killed."
Bumblebee stepped back from Optimus. “Oh no, I have to go find her…”
“Have fun catching up now,” Optimus said, sarcastically.
“Let him be, Optimus. Bumblebee, did you finish recharging?" Elita asked.
"No, but it doesn't matter. I have to go after her." Bumblebee felt ashamed, and there’s no telling what she could do in her anger. He had to help her, and stop her, too.
"You can't go after the crazy girlbot, 'Bee. She'll chew you up and spit you out. Let me do it,” Ironhide said.
“I caused this; I’m going to fix it. Nobody follow me,” Bumblebee said heroically, transforming. He raced off into the night after her.
Firefly landed in a deserted-looking area, and for the fun of it, blew up a rock with her gun. “I can't believe myself. I fell for him. Stupid, stupid!" She grabbed a tree and tried to yank it from the ground, but nothing happened, besides her yelping from pain. It was a cactus. She heard a racing engine, which was Bumblebee. She didn’t know who it was, nor did she care. She flew up again in the blink of an eye.
“I know you’re up there,” Bumblebee transmitted. “I just want to talk.”
“I know you know. And I'm avoiding talking to you. I have problems. I know inside I seriously don't want to hurt you,” she explained. “My mind is telling me otherwise right now. Go away.”
“Know what?” Bumblebee asked. He had picked up her signal and was following on the ground.
“I know you know I'm up here. I know you know about my problems. I wish you'd take the hint and GO AWAY,” she said angrily.
“I’m not leaving, so get used to it,” ‘Bee said. “I’m sorry for what I did…what ever IT is.”
“There was so much you did, I don’t think I could possibly name it all,” Firefly said.
Bumblebee decided to take a guess. “Was it the bear-eating comment?”
“That and the songs and everything,” she replied.
“Whoa! You asked for music, small fry!” he said.
“DON’T CALL ME SMALL FRY! And I didn’t ask for an emotional beating. GO AWAY!” she shrieked. She pulled out a gun, and shot at ‘Bee, trying to get him to leave her alone.
He had begun to play “Fireflies” really loud, so she could hear, but then the bullet hit his driver’s side door and he reeled away. “FIREFLY STOP! I’M YOUR FRIEND!”
“No you’re not,” she said, as he transformed and knelt on the ground, clutching his arm. “You never wanted to be, and you never will be.”
“Ouch…ouch…” Bumblebee said. “Well, I’m not going to KILL YOU like the Decepticons did!”
“But they didn’t really kill me,” Firefly said. “Sometimes, I kinda wish they did.”
“Whoa, stop right there,” Bumblebee said, looking up at the glowing dot that was Firefly. His power was quickly draining, as he didn’t recharge enough.
“No,” Firefly said.
“Don’t talk like that,” ‘Bee said. “That’s not even funny!”
“I’m being serious, so it’s not meant to be funny,” Firefly said. “Any of my friends could have come, and nothing close to this would have happened.”
Bumblebee shook his numb hand and transformed again. “Are we going to be out here all night, or are you going to come down here and talk?”
“Well, you obviously aren’t leaving,” Firefly said. “And I don’t want you to kill yourself waiting for me to come down.” She felt less angry, but she wasn’t totally happy yet. She came back down to the ground and ‘Bee drove slow circles around her.
“Now tell me what your problem is,” Bumblebee said. “Are you feeling sorry for yourself?”
Firefly shook her head. “I don’t know. I liked movies because they have happy endings, with stuff that never happens to me. It always seems like people get happy endings. Optimus did. Nothing ever works out like it does in movies for me.”
“I thought you’d never seen a movie before,” ‘Bee said.
“Ok fine. Nothing ever works out like it did in ‘TWILIGHT,’” she corrected herself.
“In case you didn’t notice, they were HUMANS,” he told her.
Firefly sighed. “Ok. New explanation. I liked someone in Cybertron, and they liked me back. I’ll admit it, when I got here, I saw you were my age, the ONLY one my age, and I almost instantly liked you. Maybe I just felt lonely and was trying to fill the empty space. Well, now Optimus is mad at you, and I’m sure it’s my fault, since you were never mean at all to anyone else.”
Bumblebee stopped circling her and just stared at her for a while, still in car mode. “I didn’t want to get attached to anyone. Elita said you and I would be perfect together. I told her we wouldn’t.” He stopped, remembering something of the past. “I've known Optimus Prime my whole life. There was a long time when he though Elita was dead. He was an empty shell. Everything vital about him had been sucked out. He loved her so much that when he though she was dead, part of him died, too. I don't ever want to depend on someone like that. I'll be your friend. But I'll never love you that way."
“I know. And you know what, when you see my face, I hope it gives you hell.” Firefly flew up again and away from him.
“Hey! Get back here!” ‘Bee yelled at her disappearing form. “If you stay out here, the Decepticons will kill you!”
Firefly turned her head back and yelled, “They already did! They killed the half at me that let me live!” She shuddered as she remembered HIM, the one she used to love, telling her to leave, as he tried to keep the Decepticons busy. She shot another shot at Bumblebee, and it hit him in the windshield.
“Then you let them win!” He transformed, stumbled, and then fell.
“Good for them!” She screamed. “They get what they wanted.”
The shot had hit him in the shoulder. Quietly, but still loud enough for her to hear, he said, “Firefly, don’t do this. The Decepticons want you to be this way. Remember who you were when you enlisted as a guardian. You wanted to protect other robots. Remember how your friends died. If you become what the Decepticons want-their weapon-then all those Autobots died in vain.” He was sitting on the ground, injured, with most of his power gone. Firefly turned around again. “Join us. Fight against the Decepticons. Use your anger against THEM.” Bumblebee looked up at her. “If you’re not going to listen to me, let me know. Preferably before I lose consciousness.”
“I am listening.” She looked down on Bumblebee, completely exhausted and in pain, yet still so willing to help her, to save her. “How can they all forgive me now?”
“They’ll-they’ll forgive you, because that’s who they are. Optimus Prime is the most noble life-form I have ever met. He and the others will welcome you back with open arms. I promise you that,” ‘Bee promised.
“But there is only so far you can take them before their welcoming selves break against you and they won’t except you back,” Firefly said, shaking her head.
Bumblebee was getting weaker. “Not them. Not me. Skyfire used to be a Decepticon. Did you know that? He joined us and nobody holds that against him. He’s one of our best fighters.”
“I would never have guessed. He was so nice to me,” Firefly said, surprised.
“Only if you look under his Autobot badge. There’s a Decepticon one under it,” ‘Bee explained. “If you go back, we will help you. We will protect you. I promise.” His voice got fainter and fainter from the energy drain and the injuries. “Firefly…you’re gonna lose me pretty soon here. I can’t stay awake. Make your decision.” He looked into her eyes. “Tell me if I need to flee or not.” His optics were flickering.
“I’m going to stay with you guys,” she said. “And I have to get you back to base!” She picked him up and shot into the sky like a bottle rocket.
“Thank you…thank you,” Bumblebee said, before he slumped over, unconscious.
“‘Bee! No! Only a little bit farther…” Firefly said worriedly. He had to make it. If he didn’t, she wouldn’t be able to go back. She had to hurry.
Bumblebee woke up in Ratchet’s shop. “Hey little guy, you’re awake,” Ratchet said.
“Yeah, I’m here. Wh-where’s Firefly? Is she all right?” Bumblebee asked, trying to get up and look around, but Ratchet pushed him back down.
“She’s fine. She’s the one who brought you back here. Your power was so low, we thought we were going to lose you,” Ratchet explained. “Just try to relax. I’m almost done. Then you need to rest.”
Bumblebee nodded in reply. “If I’m not awake when she comes back, tell her I’m sorry.”
Firefly came in as he was saying that. “You don’t have to be.”
Bumblebee turned his head to look at her. “I was mean to you. I’m so sorry. I had no right to treat you that way.”
“I had no right to shoot you either,” she said. “I’m sorry too.”
Bumblebee laughed. “I guess we’re even then. Thank you for saving me.”
“If I didn’t, I couldn’t live with myself.” Firefly disagreed that they were even, but she didn’t want to argue with him right now. It wouldn’t do any good, or make any difference anyway.
“See? You’ll make a great Autobot,” ‘Bee said.
Ratchet spoke up then. “I’m done. Firefly, I’m afraid you need to go now. He needs to rest.” He turned to her. “In a couple hours, he should be fine.”
“Ok. Later Ratchet! Later ‘Bee!” She walked towards the door and opened it.
Before she could close the door quietly behind her, ‘Bee shouted, “Wait!”
The door reopened. “Yes?” Firefly asked.
Bumblebee played part of the Golden Girls theme song: “Thank you for being a friend. Travel down the road and back again. Your heart is true. You're a pal and a confidant."
Firefly smiled. “I thank you for the same. Now you have to rest.”
Bumblebee nodded, as she walked out of the room. He laid his head down, and powered down.

Girlbot 2: Life Goes On
Part 1- Painful Scars
Mudflap and Skids were having a somersaulting contest, trying to see who could go the farthest. Firefly came in to watch, since she was bored, and they would most likely interest her. They were the most energetic robots she had ever seen.
“Hey shrimpy!” Mudflap shouted, when she entered the room.
Firefly made a face. “Please don’t call me that…”
Skids did another somersault. “Mini-bot! Yay!”
“Stop it! That’s rude,” she said.
“Since when did we ever have good manners?” Mudflap asked rhetorically, as he fist-bumped Skids.
Firefly sighed. “I was just hoping you would at least TRY to be nice.”
Skids bopped over to her and asked, “Why don’t you come play with us?” He looked at her hopefully.
“I don’t know…” she said. “I don’t think I’m very good at ummm…that.”
Mudflap bounced in little circles around her. “Aw, c’mon, you’re so boring! Have fun with us!” He started poking her, joined a few seconds later by Skids.
“Stop poking me!” Firefly screamed. Poke, poke.
“What you don’t like that?” Mudflap asked, faking innocence. Poke, poke.
“STOP IT!” she shrieked. Poke, poke, pokey, poke, poke. The twins started laughing. Poke, poke, poke. Firefly was severely irritated and just stalked out of the room, leaving them there staring at each other.
“Hey, man, you scared her away! Nice goin’!” Skids accused.
Mudflap defended himself. “I did not! You started it!” He tackled Skids and they started wrestling.
Firefly got out the door, then started running and then she was flying. She landed in her “alone spot” where she had gone before. Where she had shot Bumblebee, where she agreed to stay with the Autobots, and where she had been going to ever since then to just cool off. She sank to her knees, remembering it all, starting with all the problems she had BEFORE the Decepticons even started to blow up her school.
She remembered her last day at her guardian school:
It was on Cybertron, at the Fourth Guardian Academy. She had just finished target practice and was walking away, when Justice, her (boyfriend? Lover?), caught up to her. “Nice work on target practice today.” He smiled at her.
She giggled. “Thanks.”
“Someday, you’re going to have to teach me to sharp shoot like that,” Justice said.
“I will, sometime,” she promised.
One of the more popular male robots walked up behind them. “Hey, Firefly, grown any yet?” he taunted. “Shut up,” Firefly said firmly, looking him in the eyes.
“Really? Not even an astro-inch?” he said, trying to make her blow up at him. He thought he would’ve gotten her expelled by now. It’d be so funny when he did.
“Leave her alone,” Justice said threateningly. He turned to her. “Firefly, don’t let him bother you.”
She kept looking at the bully. “I dare you to say something else. Come on. Bring it on.”
Justice grabbed her arm. “Firefly…don’t…”
“Don’t touch me,” she said, shaking his arm off.
He stepped back, putting his hands up, as if surrendering. “Hey, I was just trying to help. Remember what our defense instructor said.”
She glared at him. “Well I don’t WANT your help. If you’re just going to get in the way, just GO away.”
“If you get in another fight this week, you’re going to get expelled!” Justice warned.
Firefly shrieked loudly out of pure anger, and she started running off, just to get away from the situation. Before she could get very far, there was an explosion somewhere on the grounds, and everyone started screaming, including Firefly. She was knocked off her feet when it went off.
“What was that?!” Justice screamed.
The Decepticons were outside, right above their heads, dropping missiles on the building. A few of them landed in the courtyard and began firing. One of the older teachers were killed immediately. A different teacher yelled, “Decepticons! Everyone inside!” With that said, all the students and instructors started pouring into the building.
Firefly sat there for a few moments, shocked by what was happening around her. She started to get up, when Justice screamed, “They’re going to kill everyone!”
A female teacher rushed the students inside. “Everyone into the-” She was shot before she could finish her sentence.
A transmission went out to everyone. “Students! Go to protoform and TAKE OFF! Save yourselves!”
Justice looked at the stunned Firefly. “Come on! We have to go!”
“No! We can’t just leave everyone!” she shouted.
Everywhere around them there was screaming and shooting. “If we don’t leave, they’ll kill us all and no one will know what happened!” Justice screamed, but only so she could hear him. He was also frightened, but he was pretty good at controlling his feelings. “One of us has to get to the Autobot leader. He has to know what happened here!”
“I’m not leaving without you!” Firefly said stubbornly. An explosion knocked them off their feet, and Firefly screamed, “Justice! Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I’m fine,” he said. He was hurt a little, but it wasn’t that bad. “You need to go. I will catch up.” He touched her hand then transmitted coordinates. “Follow those. They will take you to the Autobot leader.” “But I can’t leave without you…” Firefly said. “I won’t leave you here.”
Justice stood up and drew out his guns. “I will hold them off.”
Firefly looked at his face for a long moment. “You had better be following soon.”
“I’ll follow you when I can. I will bring any survivors with me,” Justice said, stepping out of the building and into the sunlight. “Hey Deceptigoons! Come and get me!” he shouted as loud as he could.
“I LOVE-” Another shot went off and drowned out Firefly’s sentence.
The shot hit Justice and he fell over, but got up again quickly. “I love you too, now GO!” he screamed at her, desperately trying to get her to leave.
Firefly took off then, and headed towards the location Justice told her to go to. She barely cleared the building when an enormous explosion leveled the place. Autobot parts were flying everywhere. She scanned the vicinity, but she couldn’t pick up any signs of life. She screamed in rage and flew up higher. She almost turned back, but she remembered what she had to do.
The Decepticons scattered as soon as the Rescue ‘bots arrive. “Rescue leader to base,” A transmission reached her a few moments later. “No survivors. One little guy put up a pretty good fight. Databank says his name is Justice. Poor thing’s blown to bits.”
