PART 5
After what seemed like forever, which was actually a whole five hours, sitting in front of the medical bay door, Firefly watched Skyfire come out of the room. She got up and blocked his path. "What's going on? How is he doing? Is he awake? Can I see him?"
Skyfire started, "You c--"
Firefly interrupted him. "THANKS!" Then, she buzzed into the room.
Ratchet looked up from his work, startled. "Firefly, what are you doing in here?"
She ignored him, and sat on the table next to Justice and poked him once.
"Go away. I'm tired," Justice grumbled, not knowing who it was.
"Firefly, he's not well yet," Ratchet explained.
"You said he was better!" Firefly said, already slightly angry. Why is Justice not better anymore?! He seemed nearly perfectly fine before!
Ratchet stayed completely calm. "Better than when he first got here," he said, as if repeating himself, which Firefly knew for sure he was NOT.
"You COULD'VE been CLEARER about that," she retorted.
"I thought I was clear," Ratchet said, a slight emphasis on was, but still keeping his voice on a calm level. "He just needs recovery time."
"YOU SAID YOU WOULD FIX HIM!" Firefly didn't know why she lost it, or what exactly she was angry about. She just thought everything was perfect and now she found out it wasn't; maybe that was it. She was beyond thinking about it though.
Ratchet spoke, a bit slower to try and calm her, "We are doing our best. You saw how badly damaged he was. It will just take time."
"BUT YOU SAID HE WOULD BE FINE!" Her hands started shaking, which was a clear signal to both of them that this was past the point of no return.
Ratchet took a step forward. "I said he might be...you need to calm down before you hurt someone."
Firefly looked down at her hands, which were still shaking with emotion. "I WAS SO SURE...AND YOU SAID...AND I WAS SO SURE..." ...everything would be perfect already...
Ratchet slowly reached for her, not exactly sure what was going to happen, but nothing from there on could be good if her anger got worse. "Firefly...settle down now..." he said, sounding like a new parent trying to get their newborn to stop crying.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" she shouted, smacking his arm away.
Ratchet started to get mad, losing his almost never ending patience. "Get out of this room, Firefly. You are NOT helping."
"NONONO! I WANNA STAY!" Firefly said, in a way similar to a temper-tantrum.
"All you're is distracting me! Get OUT!" Ratchet grabbed for her, but she jumped out of his grip, floating in the air, and slapped him across the face. He wasn't hurt, but he was definitely furious. "FIREFLY GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE I DEACTIVATE YOU!"
"MAKE ME!!!" came the reply.
Ratchet roared, booming, in a very loud voice, "HE'S STILL DYING, AND IF YOU DON'T LET ME GET BACK TO WORK YOU'LL BE THE ONE WHO KILLED HIM!"
Firefly looked shocked, and in a very quiet voice said, "What?" and dropped to the floor in a jumble, looking as if someone had just shot her from behind.
Ratchet realized what he had just said and looked down at the depressing face. "Oh, no...Firefly...I didn't mean that..."
"YOU WOULDN'T HAVE SAID IT IF YOU DIDN'T MEAN IT!!!" and she was gone.
Firefly was flying straight for the door to go outside, away from everyone, and wasn't paying attention exactly to what was going on around her. She nearly mowed over Ironhide and Jazz, but they ducked out of the way just in time.
Ratchet followed after her, trying to catch her, but he had to stop. Firefly was just too fast. She was gone and out the door before anyone could say a thing.
"Someone's got to go after her. Bumblebee, maybe?" Ratchet said, regret smeared all over his face.
"After the last time? You couldn't pay him enough," Jazz replied.
"Wait...we don't get paid," Ironhide commented.
Ratchet glared at him. "Shut up."
"I'll go find Prime and tell him what happened. She'll calm down and come back. She always does," Jazz said, shrugging it off. This happened all the time; Ratchet was just overreacting.
***
Firefly hadn't even touched the ground before she was blowing up things, avoiding the cactus. "All I do is destroy things! No matter what, I come back to the same spot...messing up, screwing up, blowing up something!"
"All I do is hurt the people I love!" She hurled a palm-sized rock in the direction of wherever it was going. "They all probably secretly hate me for it too."
The rock bounced off of something and rolled back at her, barely tapping her foot. "Quite a temper you have, little one."
Firefly spun around quickly, shocked anyone knew where she was. "Who...?"
A large white robot stepped from behind the bushes and trees, and said in a soft, calm voice, "Hello, Firefly. My name is Megatron."
Firefly held up one of her guns. "Get the hell away from me, you...you..."
"That's no way to treat an old friend, is it?" Megatron said, his voice calm and smooth. "I've been watching you. I've seen your many skills."
Firefly laughed. "Ha. Friend...go suck on a cactus." Her arm was still up, her gun out, ready to fire whenever she felt like it.
Megatron stepped a bit closer, which made Firefly feel a bit wary, but she didn't move. "Temper, temper. And here I was going to offer my help..."
"I don't need any help," Firefly said firmly. "Especially not from YOU."
"Put your gun away. I won't hurt you," Megatron said, pretty much ignoring the last comment.
She scoffed, "Yeah, sure. Whatever."
"Come now, you don't even know me. All you know is what the Autobots have told you. And that useless leader, Optimus Prime," Megatron said. "Since when do you go along with what everyone else tells you, little one?"
The "little one" comments were thoroughly irritating Firefly, and she wanted to just blow his head of right then and there, but he hadn't shown signs of aggression, and it would be very dishonorable. "Since I've tried to find some friends who know what it's like to not be controlled by your feelings."
That was the truth. She hadn't really cared, until she felt totally alone on a planet she knew practically nothing about. Maybe that forced her to grow up and stop wallowing in...whatever she was wallowing in. Anger and sadness weren't exactly the words to describe it.
"I can help you control your feelings so they won't control you," Megatron said. "I can help you stop hurting those you love."
"Really?" Firefly asked, putting her gun away. That was her biggest wish of all time. To just be normal. To not live an over-dramatic's nightmare.
"Would I lie to you?" Megatron asked rhetorically, but he could see it in her face that she still had doubts. He held out his hand. "Come with me."
A memory flashed before her eyes of a movie she had watched recently. In Phantom of the Opera, the Phantom held out his hand and led the girl into the mirror. She was too focused on trying to decifer Megatron's face to remember how that turned out.
Firefly took his hand eventually, just like that girl from the movie, but suddenly he pulled her up against him, and she screamed higher and louder than she ever had before.
"One thing you must learn..." Megatron stated. "Decepticons always LIE!"
About 10 minutes before, Optimus and Jazz went out after her and were nearly there, when they heard her scream. They came running into the clearing only astroseconds later.
"LET HER GO MEGATRON!" Optimus boomed. Both Autobots started shooting at him.
Megatron shot them both, and they went down and didn't move at all.
"NO! DON'T HURT THEM!" Firefly yelped, punching him. She tried to get away by squirming, but no amount of twisting and turning would escape his strength.
Megatron then grabbed her by the throat. "Come along, my little pet. Take a good look at your former leader. The next time you see him, he will be your enemy. You are MINE."
"Never," Firefly muttered, trying to rip his hands off of her throat by squirming and tearing at his hands with her own. She head butted him and almost got away, but he punched her and knocked her out cold. Then he took off for base.
***
Optimus woke up and groaned. "Jazz? You still there?"
"No. I'm dead, man," Jazz said.
Optimus rolled over onto his back. "He got me right in the chest." He touched the wound. "Where'd he hit you?"
"Ughhh...straight in the gut..." Jazz suddenly remember why they were there in the first place. "Hey...where's Firefly?"
Optimus sat up slowly and looked around. "Oh no...he took her. Megatron has Firefly."
"She'll kill him," Jazz said, sitting up.
"We'll have to go after her," Optimus decided.
"If we go now, the Decepticons will mop the floor with us."
"Send a signal back to base," Optimus commanded. "We will have to send a squad out after her. Do you think Bumblebee would go?"
"Let's get our chassis back to base, then we'll worry about it," Jazz said, standing up.

PART 6
Firefly's eyes flickered on as she started to wake up. As she looked around, she saw two robots she had never seen before, right next to her.
One of them started to speak. "Hello, little one. My name is--Oof!"
Starscream didn't have the chance to finish because she punched him. "That's a lovely name, but I'd be very greatful if you'd get the HELL AWAY from me!" she shouted, her voice going up a few pitches.
"Why, you little--" He suddenly lifted his hand to strike her. Before he had the chance, Firefly grabbed it with her left hand, twisted it around, and then punched him with her other arm.
Soundwave started laughing. "HAHA! Good girl!" Suddenly a fist came flying at him too.
"What are you laughing at, you talking tape deck?" she scoffed.
Before Firefly could react, Starscream had her pinned down and a gun in her face. "I'll kill you for that!"
"Hey, get off of me, you freak!" Firefly hissed.
"STARSCREAM!" came a booming voice from somewhere to her right.
She tried to fire a gun at 'Screamer but found her weapons not working somehow. "WHY ARE MY GUNS NOT WORKING???"
Megatron ran over and punched the minacing form holding her down, knocking Starscream over. "She's not for you."
"What do YOU want?" Firefly asked angrily.
Megatron stepped over Starscream. "Glad you're awake."
She just glared at him for a few moments. "Where am I? What did you do to Optimus and Jazz?"
"You are at our base of operations. I brought you here to help you," he explained.
"Help me? I thought you were LYING. 'Cause, you know, Decepticons ALWAYS lie."
"I wasn't lying that time...just bending the truth," he said. "I WILL help you. Help you to betray your friends."
"Do us all a favor, and go get lost in space..." Firefly was still glaring at him. "Preferably really close to the sun." Starscream laughed, and she turned her glare upon him. "Shut up, bird brain!"
"Careful, Starscream, or I will have her use you for target practice," Megatron threatened.
"Can I do that anyway?" Of all of the Decepticons, 'Screamer seemed to annoy her the most.
Megatron chuckled. "Perhaps later, little one," Firefly growled. She hated being called little. "Before that, we have work to do."
"Work?" she questioned.
"Yes," he said, turning to Soundwave. "Where would you like to start, Soundwave?"
Firefly looked from Megatron to Soundwave, trying to figure out what was going on. She was scared to death that she already knew.
"Her weapons systems need no modification. Her Autobot programming is fragmented," Soundwave explained. "It should not be hard to bypass."
Megatron looked over at her. "You see, Firefly? You were meant to be a Decepticon."
Firefly wanted to just fall over and die. She could NOT let this happen. "Whatever floats your freakin' boat," she spat. Inside, she was screaming 'NO NO NO NOT THIS NOT THIS NO WAY NO WAY.' She just HAD to warn the others, before she hurt them...worse than she already did.
"I'll leave you to your work, Soundwave," he said, turning to leave. "Let me know if you need help."
Soundwave grabbed Firefly, and she struggled, but he was just too big. They all were. "I will hate you for as long as I live." Firefly wasn't directing this at any one in particular. She pretty much hated them all equally, although maybe Starscream and Megatron a little bit more.
"No, you won't," Megatron corrected, turning back around. "Soon you won't even remember saying that."
"Determination can outlive anything," Firefly argued, but he had already turned and walked away. She didn't know where she heard that from, but she liked the way that sounded.
Soundwave held her down with one hand while one hand turned into a probe. He placed the probe against her head. "Try to relax. This is going to hurt."
Firefly suddenly turned fearful, her voice raising up a few pitches. "HOW CAN I RELAX IF YOU TELL ME IT'S GONNA HUR-AAAAAHHHHH!!!" The probe sunk through her skull. She screamed and struggled, but there was no escape now. 'Focus. Don't forget who you are...' she thought. Wires sprouted out of the probe, altering her circuits. 'Determination can out-' She stopped struggling and passed out.
***
Optimus and Jazz staggered over to base, both of them smoking and melted. Ratchet met them at the entrance. "Please tell me Firefly didn't do that..."
Optimus shook his head. "Megatron has Firefly. We just have time for some quick repairs, and then we have to go out after her."
"You two are in no state to go anywhere," Ratchet argued.
"We're fine," Jazz said. "He just knocked us silly."
"We HAVE to go after her," Optimus was practically pleading. "She's a loose cannon on a good day. Think what she would become with Megatron's guidance."
Elita One ran up, having heard their voices. "What's going on???"
"Skyfire will stay here and look after Justice," Ratchet said. "I'm going with you."
Optimus crossed his arms over his chest to cover his injury, turning to face Elita. "Megatron has Firefly."
"Optimus, honey, I'm not blind," Elita said, giving him a look. "How bad is it?" she asked, very concerned.
"How bad is what?" he asked, trying to look innocent.
Jazz looked away, trying to not get involved.
"You know very well what I am talking about!" Elita's voice raised a bit. "Show me this instant!"
Optimus moved his arms. "It's nothing. Ratchet will fix me up, and then a few of us will head out."
Elita gave him a look. "That is NOT nothing."
"It doesn't matter. We have to get her back," he said. "Would you please stop hovering? Go get Ironhide, Wheeljack, and Chromia."
"I'll go, too," Jazz added.
"Me too," Ratchet said. Trying to avoid Elita's blowup, "Come on, Jazz. Yours looks worse."
Before Elita could actually blowup, Bumblebee came into the room. "What's going on? Why does everyone seem so..." He glances at Elita. "...stressed out?"
Optimus was starting to get sick of repeating himself. "Megatron has Firefly."
Bumblebee totally flipped out then. Something in him just sort of snapped. "WHAT?! HOW WOULD SHE LET THAT HAPPEN?!"
Optimus looked at him for a moment. "Megatron talked her into it. We didn't hear it all, but he said he would help her control her emotions."
"Oh crap...of COURSE!" 'Bee said, making a face-palm motion. 'The only thing that would convince her,' he thought.
"You know he'll turn her against us," Optimus said.
"Yes, of course," he replied. "What ELSE would he want her for?"
Optimus decided to ignore the strange way 'Bee was acting. He WAS close to her, even if she had liked him a way he didn't. That was for the better anyway, because just think how awkward it would have been when Justice arrived. "We're going out after her in a few astrominutes."
Too quickly, as if he had already had it in mind, 'Bee said, "I'm going." He actually was surprised himself when he said it.
Optimus and Elita just stared at him.
"WHAT???" he questioned, a bit too loudly.
"No way are you going," Optimus said finally.
"WHY???"
"You...uh...I won't let you." Optimus tried to find a real reason.
"She's my friend too," Bumblebee said, with a hint of finality in his voice. He wasn't backing down. "I'm going."
Optimus shook his head, sick of arguing. "It will be dangerous, Bumblebee."
"Dangerous because I'm probably her closest friend?!" 'Bee shouted. "Dangerous because if they've already gotten to her, it'd take a really close friend to bring her back?!"
Elita looked over at Optimus. "He's got a point."
"Fine. But don't do anything stupid, all right?"
"I won't. Why would I?" 'Bee asked.
"Because trouble seems to find you, Bumblebee," Optimus stated. "Just be careful."
"I'll be fine," he replied. "You worry too much."
Jazz, out of sight in Ratchet's workshop, screamed quite loudly, "OW! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!"
Ratchet, calm as ever, said, "I'm done now. Send Optimus in."
