PART 8
The darkness was completely unnerving and Firefly felt like she was going to lose her mind. Although she could see just fine, the fact that there was nothing to see and that it made it seem like she was blind was what was driving her nuts. Then she heard voices outside her door, so she focused intently on what they were saying.
“Master, she is unstable,” came Starscream’s voice. “and dangerous.”
“Really now, Einstein?” Firefly mumbled sarcastically, low enough that the two wouldn’t hear her.
“Perhaps, but I only need to control her for a while before I send her to the Autobots,” Megatron said on the other side of the metal door.
“For our sake, I hope Soundwave’s programming holds.” Starscream added, “And that she IS one of us.”
“She doesn’t need to BE us,” Megatron said. “She just needs to OBEY us. Obey me.”
“If she is obeying YOUR orders then the plan is doomed to fail. Better place her under my command, Master.” Starscream went on, “I would use her properly.”
At the same time Starscream was speaking, Firefly thought, ‘I have two options: Revolt against my own programming or kill myself. I will not let myself harm my own…’ She wanted to scream with frustration, for she found that she could not call them her friends. She was surprised she could actually plan to revolt against this stupid programming, but she was grateful nonetheless.
She was torn from her thoughts when Megatron slapped Starscream, who slammed into the door with a loud ‘BANG.’ “SHE IS MORE OF A DECEPTICON THAN YOU WILL EVER BE! AT LEAST SHE OBEYS ME!” A Starscream-looking dent stayed in the door, even when he got up.
“Great, now my door has been uglified. Good going, Starscream,” Firefly mumbled with practically no emotion. It felt like the only emotions she knew now were anger and fear, but she guessed that that’s how it went with being coerced.
She heard Megatron’s footsteps fade away as he stomped away. Then she heard Starscream speak, apparently to her. “Quiet in there! Or I’ll-”
“I don’t care what you do to me really,” Firefly interrupted, proving her point with her emotional numbness. “Just as long as you kill me.” She could not disagree with herself more, but she also agreed with it. It was as if she were two different personalities fighting to have their say.
“Don’t tempt me,” the Decepticon replied.
“Why shouldn’t I? You have every right to kill me.” She kept talking, knowing if she stopped she may not go ahead with this anymore. But really, what did it matter? Starscream probably wouldn’t listen to her anyway. ‘Shut up, you,’ she thought. “I’ve even embarrassed you in front of your whole team…whatever kind of team it is.”
Rumble was walking by and saw ‘Screamer fuming. “What? Can’t handle a pipsqueak the size of your foot?” He kept on walking, not waiting to see how Starscream would react.
“To make my point.” Firefly smiled evilly. ‘Just keep throwing punches.’
Starscream leaned close to the door and whispered, “Once your job is done, I will thoroughly enjoy killing you.”
“Why not now?” Firefly paused, and then she spoke again. “And what might this job be?”
“I thought Megatron told you! He's going to use you to kill the ones you care about. Genius. I must admit. When Optimus Prime opens his arms to embrace you upon your return, you will kill him instantly. Or at least that's Megatron's plan,” Starscream explained. “If you don't turn on Megatron FIRST. Just remember--if you kill Megatron, you'll be my first lieutenant.”
Firefly laughed her first evil-sounding laugh. ‘Ok, that’s just creepy. GO AWAY!’ She then said, “I wish I could. Believe me, I do. But even if I did, I would never work under you, with you, or in any other way around you.” She paused for dramatic effect, because she knew he wouldn’t like this next part. “You’re just like him, just on a stupider level.”
He punched the door in anger, leaving another dent. He yelped from the sudden pain.
“You make me feel so much smarter,” Firefly said, feeling like quite a smart-alek. “I’ve never had my points proved so easily until I met you.”
‘Screamer was cursing about his hand, and then said, “You just sit tight, Firefly. I’m going to go fix this stupid thing, and then I’ll be back to talk some more. You better be here when I get back.”
“Where the heck would I go, butt brain?!” she hollered in reply.
He paused, turned around, and screamed at the door, “I DON’T HAVE A BUTT, YOU UPSTART!”
All the Decepticons were in an uproar when Firefly retorted, “Upstart? You really need better comebacks, seriously. You make it way too easy.”
The Decepticons were still laughing when Starscream stormed off, feeling like killing them all.
After he left, Firefly started switching through radio stations when she had a brilliant idea. She just hoped ‘Bee was paying attention. When it came to it, she may not be able to stop herself, but she can at least warn her…She still couldn’t think of them as friends. That stoppage in her mind was still there.
She wanted to scream and destroy everything, but something kept her seated calm and still as if she were thinking about what antics the twins would come up with next. She knew she didn’t have much time, so she kept herself focused on the task that lie ahead.
***
The Autobot team was in their vehicle modes, just approaching Firefly’s last known location--her hideout. Bumblebee received a transmission and slammed on his breaks.
The others blew right past him, but Elita was the first to return despite Chromia’s small vehicle mode. They were all freaked out, wondering if he was overcome by fear or something.
‘Bee seemed frozen. “Firefly just sent me a message.”
Optimus was still turning around, since he was the biggest and it was much harder for him to do so. “Bumblebee? What did she say?”
Still numb from shock, the little Autobot just said, “She sent a message to me. Just me, because she knew I’d be listening.”
“And…?” Chromia asked impatiently.
“Oh. Here.” Bumblebee played the assortment of song pieces for the group to hear. “I’m going under/drowning in you/I’ve got to break through/I’m going under…No one mourns the wicked/no one cries they won’t return…Save my life, change my mind…I’m not afraid to dream, to sleep, sleep forever…If I fall and all is lost/It’s where I belong…I will always love you.”
“She’s lost her mind,” Ironhide commented, after the message ended.
“What do you mean?!” ‘Bee asked, half-screaming.
“That made absolutely NO sense!” Ironhide replied.
Bumblebee felt flabbergasted. “It made PERFECT sense!”
“It’s code, you idiot!” Elita scoffed at Ironhide.
Ironhide revved his engine in response, but he didn’t say anything.
The small transformer nodded. “That’s right. Every line meant something.”
“Please tell us what it means,” Chromia suggested. “I don’t know about the rest of them, but I have no clue what it means.”
“Going under…something’s changing her, who she is,” ‘Bee explained.
“I was afraid of that,” Optimus commented.
“No one mourns…she thinks she’s evil and doesn’t deserve to be saved maybe? Or that we won’t save her.” Bumblebee looked calm on the outside, but on the inside he was being torn to shreds by his friend’s plea for help…or maybe a warning?
Ironhide shook his head. “She’s wrong.”
Bumblebee went on. “And then ‘save my life, change my mind.’ She thinks she’s going to die, and she needs to be saved…and um…she’ll need us to change her mind back to who she was before.”
Everyone remained silent this time, waiting for him to go on.
“I’m not afraid to dream--Oh! She says she’s not afraid to die. Even if we don’t save her, she’s willing to die for US.” He paused, trying to figure out what that meant. She was going to kill herself! His voice trembled a bit as he said, “We have to save her, Optimus! We can’t leave her there!”
“We WILL save her, Bumblebee,” Optimus said. “Finish the message. ‘If I fall…’”
‘Bee tried not to panic. “Yeah…if we can’t do anything, and she dies, she thinks that’s what was meant to happen. She was supposed to die.” He knew that this meant if they never came or couldn’t help her then she was going to kill herself. He just knew it.
Elita whispered, “And the last part?”
“She’s…she’s saying goodbye. Even if we don’t save her, or she dies, she will still love us.” Bumblebee felt like he was going to lose it. He couldn’t let her die. She didn’t deserve that, no matter how hot-headed she was.
Ironhide revved his engine as loud as he could. “No use talkin’! Let’s go kick Megatron’s butt and get our girl back!”
Jazz completely snapped out of being scared and was instead filled with a sense of duty. “He’s right! Come on!”
“AUTOBOTS! ROLL OUT!” Optimus Prime boomed.
*-*
All at once, Firefly’s emotions burst through whatever barrier was holding them back. ‘This just has to work. I can’t harm them. What am I going to do?! I want to get out of here! Things are going to go very badly, I just know it. Why did I tell them to come here? Now I’ll just make HIS plan go faster!!! What the heck was I thinking?!’
Her thoughts were interrupted by a transmission from Bumblebee. “I’m not running/It’s a little different now…I wanna be there for you/Someone you can come to…on the road again”
She smiled. “Maybe things WILL be okay…”
Suddenly, the door flung open and in came Soundwave. “You thought I wouldn’t notice?” he yelled.
Firefly pressed herself against the wall and shrank back into the corner, whimpering. She knew she was in big trouble now. The fear came back and all hope had been erased. It didn’t take a genius to know that she was going to get the wrath of THE BUTTON again.
He reached out and grabbed her by the neck. “You’re coming with me for a little lesson.”
She wriggled, and then turned her head to the side and-
“That hurt!” Soundwave hollered, jumping back. He dropped the girlbot and examined the bite marks on his arm. “How dare you!”
“Never corner a wild animal,” Firefly said, smirking. The much larger robot tried to smack her, but she zoomed over his head and out of the cell.
“PRISONER ESCAPE! WARNING!” he announced. He released his panther-like robot, Ravage. “Ravage, apprehend and subdue!”
She flew the fastest she could fly, and from out of nowhere a Decepticon popped up in her way. She nearly mowed him over but flew higher at the last possible second. Starscream came around the corner and was shocked to find her flying right by him. “What the-Soundwave you let it ESCAPE!”
“I love how I have no gender now,” Firefly muttered.
Soundwave shouted back at Starscream, “She was trying to send an outside transmission!”
“Never mind, I will catch her!” ‘Screamer shouted, flabbergasted. He transformed into a jet and hurried after her. By this point, half of the Decepticons were chasing her, and half were just rolling on the floor laughing.
Firefly looked back and gasped. She turned quickly and her pursuer slammed into the wall. Starscream transformed back to robot mode and stumbled about like a drunkard. “Why you little--you’ll pay for that!”
Soundwave tried shooting Firefly, but only succeeded in hitting Starscream in the face. She cackled merrily. “Hey this is fun!” She sped up, showing off with twirling and flipping.
Astrotrain tried to grab her, but instead he knocked over a huge stack of scraps and spare parts, scattering them all over the place. Soundwave slipped on them and landed on his behind. He sent out Laserbeak, since he had to repair his butt damage.
Laserbeak sped after the young robot, and one of his many shots hit her in the neck. “You little crow!!!” she yelled, trying to shoot at him. He dodged out of the way, and then he came right back.
Firefly did a loop-de-loop under the bird and ended up behind him, shooting him in the rear end. “Now how do YOU like it?!” The bird-thing screeched and whirled around, and the two slam together. Laserbeak was failing miserably.
Megatron came into the room to find utter chaos and disarray. “What in the world? What happened?!”
“She’s lost her databanks!” Starscream hollered, ducking as she nearly mowed him over.
“Firefly, you stop right this instant! Come down here!” Megatron boomed.
She tested her theory that she could try to revolt against the programming. Though he had commanded her to stop, and she really felt like she should, even WANTED to, she kept on going. “Make me!” She twirled around to look him in the optics.
“Firefly, this is my last warning!” Megatron screamed at her, like a parent with a child who’s throwing a tantrum.
Last warning until what? “NO!” she yelled as loud as she could.
“I gave you chance,” he said. “Too bad.”
He aimed at her with the remote control, and all she could get out was, “THE BUTTON!” before her mind exploded like fireworks. She dropped like a stone and started rolling and thrashing wildly on the floor.
The wall behind Starscream exploded from the outside, and in came Optimus Prime. “PICK ON A MECHANISM YOUR OWN SIZE, MEGATRON!” he boomed, saying ‘Megatron’ like it was a dirty word. As he stepped aside to let the other Autobots get in, Ironhide looked down to see Starscream in the rubble and purposely stepped on his head.
Enjoy! ^_^

Part 9
“Oops, ‘Screamer, was that your head? I thought it was your ass.” Ironhide shrugged. “They look the same.” Starscream was seeing stars and just gurgled in response.
As this all was taking place, Firefly was still screaming. In only a few moments, the pain had spread from that one spot on her head to her whole head and neck area, and then it covered the area from tip of her head to halfway down her body, about to where her hip began. She just barely realized the fact that the Autobots had arrived to take her home, to save her.
Optimus kicked the control out of Megatron’s hand. “I told you to leave her alone!” A few seconds later, Ravage jumped on Jazz and they began fighting.
“M-make it stop…button…press it…” Firefly got out in between screams, looking up at Optimus and the other Autobots. The ones she wanted to call…but she still couldn’t even think it. In a weaker, more pitiful voice she whimpered, “Help me.”
Optimus was distracted, but he gazed down at her. “Firefly!”
She started crawling towards the controller, which was only a few astrometers away. When she had finally reached it and pressed the correct button, she immediately looked and felt relieved. But it didn’t last long.
“Firefly! Attack!” Megatron’s voice boomed.
Almost instantly, her eyes blazed red and she shot at Optimus, hitting him in the face. Then her eyes were blue again and she gasped at what she had done. Subconsciously, she stepped back a few steps.
Prime staggered back, shocked. “Firefly! What are you doing?”
“She obeys me now, Prime. Not you,” Megatron explained.
Firefly screamed in anger, her hands shaking in that familiar way, her eyes their normal blue. “I won’t…I can’t…” A high-pitched scream erupted from the little robot’s body.
Optimus has a huge burn on one side of his face. “Come here, Firefly. We can help you.”
“No! Stay away from me!” Her eyes were still glowing blue, and she looked him earnestly in the eyes. “I don’t want to hurt you…”
“It’s all right,” he replied. It is obvious that she was fighting whatever had control of her, the eye-color changing one of the main hints. He just needed her to trust him.
“I have a better idea, little one,” Megatron said. “Firefly, as your master, I command you to DESTROY ELITA ONE!”
‘Crap.’ Firefly tried hard to stop it, to just hold still, something, anything but that. Her eyes started flickering from blue to red to back again. “No!” Her eyes turned red again, and she started to shoot at Elita.
“No! Firefly, you know we are your friends!” Optimus shouted, but she continued to fly for Elita’s head and attacked her with her blades.
Something grabbed her leg. “Firefly! What are you doing?! Stop it!” Just the sound of Bumblebee’s voice made her want to stop, but her internal thoughts couldn’t penetrate the external mindless being.
“I…I can’t. I can’t!” Her eyes were flickering again, the red being so powerful against her. ‘The hardest person to fight against is yourself,’ she thought.
‘Bee pulled her away from Elita. “You can’t listen to him! Stop!” She whirled around and started attack him then. He went flying and hit the wall hard. While in a heap on the ground, he said, “I thought we got over this beat-up-Bumblebee problem.” Chromia hauled the male Autobot up on his feet and got jumped by Soundwave. She proceeds to kick his butt.
Firefly’s eyes cleared to blue again. “I can’t stop it. I don’t know what to do…I’m so sorr-” she said, but she lost control again before she could finish. She started to attack Elita again.
“Firefly I can’t hurt you!” Elita yelled. “I WON’T hurt you!” She was taking multiple hits from ‘Fly.
“Fight me!” Firefly taunted, her eyes blood red. Her eyes flickered for less than a millisecond and then they were blue for a bit. “Defend yourself…please…anything!” she said, hardly believing she was agreeing with her other evil personality.
“Fight it!” Bumblebee shouted, grabbing her at the waist. “This isn’t you! You know that!”
Her eyes became an angry red then softened back to the blue. “You don’t…realize…how hard I’m trying…”
“Bumblebee, I can’t hurt her! She’s just a child!” Elita hollered.
He replied, “Well, you’ll have to, or she’ll kill you!”
Firefly screamed nonsense, not even sure when she was really herself. She wasn’t even sure whom she was mad at now. Her eyes were changing again, stopping at the cold red.
“I’m so sorry!” ‘Bee shouted before throwing her against the wall, literally trying to knock some sense into her. He aimed a gun at her head. “Don’t make me do this!”
Her pale blue eyes looked up at him, fear and understanding obvious there. A few sparks of red flickered in her eyes some. “I am trying…but this was my plan all along.”
He froze. That last part of the message made more sense now. She was telling them that if they couldn’t change her, they had to kill her. “There’s another way.”
Firefly again lost control and attacked Bumblebee, subconsciously screaming at herself the whole time. Elita tried to peel her away from ‘Bee, only to get shot with several missiles. She fell to the floor and didn’t move at all.
Optimus saw what happened but was still engaged with Megatron. “You had better hope she is still alive! Or your death will not be as merciful as I had planned!”
The remark jolted her eyes back to blue, it seemed. “Oh my God no! I. Won’t. DO THIS!” She hoped Elita had not died, just for her sake but for the sake of Optimus and all of them. Firefly didn’t even care if Prime killed her for it. She would deserve it.
‘Fly released Bumblebee for a second, and he turned her around to face him. “Listen to me! This isn’t you! It’s him!” He looked deep into those flickering optics. “You’re an Autobot! You’re good!”
“I’m good,” she repeated. Firefly wanted to cry like a human girl so bad because it’d probably be able to handle all of this if she did. Maybe being insane would be just slightly easier. Maybe?
Randomly Ironhide flew past, hanging onto Dirge’s airplane mode while Dirge is trying to fly away.
Megatron’s voice boomed from somewhere behind her. “FINISH HIM OFF FIREFLY!”
At his command, ‘Fly lost it and started beating up on her best friend…again. She was screaming, “I’m sorry!” the whole time, the only thing her good personality could accomplish.
‘Bee was trying to defend himself without hurting her. “Stop! Please, Firefly!” he screamed, but she clung to his back, hitting him nonstop.
Her eyes started flickering again, and it happened so quickly that it began to take on a purplish shade. It finally stopped at blue, and she froze in place. “I don’t know if I can stay in control, but I’m so sorry for all this!” She felt like she was going to be torn into two pieces of corpse by her emotions. But wasn’t she doomed to be dead already? What did it matter?
Bumblebee was covered in dents and gouges. He tried to stay absolutely still, in case it helped her keep in control, and he also didn’t want to startle her.
Megatron shouted, “Obey me, you little idiot! KILL HIM!”
“Megatron, she is a loose cannon! She is as likely to kill you as she is to kill Bumblebee!” Optimus warned.
Her fists were clenched so tightly, she was starting to feel pain, and she wondered if they would just eventually snap apart. ‘Focus,’ she thought. She remembered that thing she quoted Megatron only hours ago. “Determination…can outlive…anything.”
Despite any effort she gave to keep control, it was lost and she went after ‘Bee again. He was actually hurt this time. “Firefly, for the sake of the Allspark, STOP!” he cried.
“Stop it, you moron!” ‘Fly screamed at herself. “Stop stop STOPPP!” At this point, it didn’t even matter who she was at that point. She had totally lost her marbles she was so angry with herself. Elita still lay on the floor a ways away, completely unconscious. For all Firefly knew, she was probably dead.
Jazz came up behind her. “D**n it Firefly, let go of him!” He got both arms wrapped around her and yanked her off of ‘Bee, but that didn’t stop her from shooting at Bumblebee some more. Again, he was thrown back against the wall and slid to the floor, barely moving. He tried to stand up but fell back down and moaned in pain.
Firefly looked at him with blue sad eyes filled with pity and guilt, but then she smiled in an evil way. It made her sick. Her heart was lurching between stone and soft so fast, it was giving her an emotional whiplash. It seemed like she would never feel a sane emotion again.
“Firefly! Listen to me! I’m a more worthy master!” Starscream shouted as he finished removing bits of rubble from his body. “Destroy all the Autobots!”
A fire blazed in her pale blue optics as she glared at him. “I’m still Autobot enough to kill YOU! Megatron didn’t say anything about THAT!” She started to shoot at him, and it was the very first emotion that didn’t retract itself within seconds. ‘Probably my evil twin agrees this time,’ she thought.
Ironhide was amused by the stupidity of that strange Decepticon. Always trying to revolt. Who did he think he was? “You’re a moron Starscream!” he shouted. “She could eat you alive!”
“He’s right, you know,” she said, shooting a few missiles in sequence. “You also know that I’m a female and we just can’t help it when there’s junk food around.” She grinned slightly like the normal Firefly would, her blue eyes echoing the smile.
“There’s my girl! Keep fightin’ it!” Ironhide hollered.
Megatron ducked to avoid a blow from Optimus, and then dove to the floor, grabbing the controller. “This is what happens when you don’t listen, little slave!”
Firefly had only time to turn around to look, cringing because she knew what was coming. There was a large visible black circle on her head, a scar from all the electrocutions. It had appeared during the last shock when it was activated for longer than usual, but she hadn’t even known such a thing would appear. No one who looked at her could ever miss it.
Optimus lunged for the controller. “Don’t you think you’ve hurt her enough?”
Megatron pressed THE BUTTON, which is what Firefly called it in her head, right as Jazz looked over and saw the large black circle sizzling on the little girlbot’s head. She crumpled to the floor in a pitiful heap, clutching her head with such force she swore it might just pop off.
Jazz nudged Ironhide, who had turned away. “Ironhide, look! That’s where they made the modification!”
Then her hand brushed over the scar, feeling a large raised spot, wondering what it looked like. She glared up at Megatron. “I. Hate. You.” Just what she needed, something to remember this awful event by.
“I see it!” Ironhide shouted. “Do you think…” He broke off when she started screaming again.
Megatron laughed that booming evil laugh of his. “I’m sure you do-” he started, interrupted by Prime punching him in the face, which unhinged the Decepticon leader’s jaw.
Optimus snatched the controller away. “Ironhide! Catch!” He chucked it over the heads of four Decepticons who tried to make a grab at it.
Ironhide caught it and repressed the torture button. “Better, little one?” he asked.
Firefly visibly relaxed from her tight ball, sitting up. “Yeah.” She shivered, feeling her scar again. It still had electricity but very lightly, similar to when a person scrapes their knee and later it still hurts a bit, especially when it was touched.
Soundwave stopped in front of Jazz and Ironhide, his weapons out. “Give me the controller, Autobot, and you will live. Only I can change her programming.” The two just busted out laughing. “YOU DARE LAUGH AT ME?!”
“Don’t look behind you,” Ironhide said, pointing. Before the large cassette player could turn around, Firefly shot at him.
Chromia jumped on Soundwave’s back and put him in a chokehold while he’s still screaming about the shot. She literally bit his neck, and her hand groped into the back of his head. Grabbing a specific wire, she said, “Thanks for the help.” She then let go and jumped off, proud of herself. Ironhide and Jazz shot at Soundwave until he fell over on top of Starscream, both of them stirring up the pile of rubble again.
Megatron was getting his butt whooped by Optimus on the other side of the room. “Firefly! Do as you are told! Kill them! Kill all of them! You obey ME now!”
Her eyes flickered again, but her fury burned so surely she thought she wouldn’t break this time. “N-no. No,” she said as surely as one who had just had the shock treatment could, but Megatron’s command still got through her mental block and she went after Jazz, her eyes turning red.
While Jazz was getting the crap knocked out of him, Chromia told Ironhide, “I downloaded Firefly’s programming from Soundwave’s databanks! We can change her back!”
Ironhide kissed Chromia. “Good work.”
“Hey guys, if you haven’t noticed, I need a little help over here! This isn’t really time for kissy kissy mushy mushy! I don’t want to kill her, but she’s kicking my a**!” Jazz yelled at the two love-bots.
“Firefly, we can help you!” Chromia shouted. “Just hold still for an astrosecond!” Firefly tried to stop, her eyes flickering again, but she just couldn’t gain control again.
Megatron was getting more desperate as Prime got the upper hand. “FIREFLY ATTACK!”
Her eyes went completely red, and she went after Jazz again. “Do it fast, before I kill Jazz!”
“I don’t want to do this…” Ironhide said. “But you leave me no choice!” He grabbed her legs, swung her, and slammed her into the wall, head first. She was completely knocked out.
Jazz was bent double. “Next time, you’re the punching bag, Ironhide!”
“Get back!” Chromia shouted, ripping off Firefly’s scar. She began to upload the programming from Soundwave.
Everything was black. Firefly realized that she was completely cut off from her senses. ‘Thank you, Ironhide,’ she thought. ‘That’s gonna be the only time I’m thankful for being thrown against a wall.’ She tried to giggle but found that she had no access at all to her body. She just laid there enjoying the peace while waiting for something to happen.
Chromia finished the upload and tore out the shock device, throwing it to the ground like it tried to bite her. “I hope that worked…”
Firefly completely deactivated for a few seconds, and then suddenly she wakes up, sitting up, eyes bright blue. She just looked around for a bit, sitting scrunched up in a ball, her arms wrapped around her knees. “This feels…different, yet normal…”
Bumblebee crawled over to her. “Firefly, is that you?”
She nodded, looking at the wall only feet away from her. The unconscious body of Elita still lay over to the side. “I guess so…” She couldn’t bear to look at him, afraid of what she would see.
There was a giant CRASH and they see Optimus fly into a computer bank. Electricity flared and he convulsed. Firefly looked away, the fear pounding through her like a heart she did not have. Without thinking about it, she scooted a little bit farther away from the scene.
With one leap, Megatron landed in front of them. Firefly shrieked, trying to crawl backwards while still on her back. He fired his pulse cannon, which was powerful compressed air with no projectile or flame, at Bumblebee and Elita. ‘Bee screamed and then went still. He then aimed the cannon at Firefly. “Still thinking you’re on the winning side?”
She screamed, going completely off the deep end, and tackled him. She was beyond furious. There wasn’t even a word for how much anger she was feeling. She rammed her whole body in his face, knocking him over, and she clung like an octopus. He landed on Soundwave and Starscream.
The Autobots were scrambling to gather the wounded and get out of there. Firefly was completely oblivious to it. “You deserve to die! You hurt my friends! You used ME to hurt my friends! One of us is going down, and it sure as hell ain’t gonna be me!” She shot him in the mouth and he gargled, trying to scream at her.
Ironhide ran over to Optimus and helped him to his feet. “Prime! Are you functional? That was quite a blast you took.”
“Yes it was.” He was unsteady but awake. “Is Firefly--?”
“She’s good but we need to get out of here. Almost everybody’s hurt,” Ironhide explained. He held Optimus up, and they ran for the door.
Prime was still twitching from the jolt. “AUTOBOTS! FULL RETREAT! MOVE!”
Firefly looked up at them for a second but sneered back down at Megatron, continuing to beat the crap out of him. She remembered everything he had done to her. He deserved to die. Justice flashed in her mind for a moment, which only made her even angrier at this stupid creature she was so ready to kill.
One life for all her friends. Did it really matter? It still wouldn’t be enough for her. Then her eyes caught site of the shocking device laying only astroinches away. She smiled evilly. She grabbed it and stuck it to the side of Megatron’s head. “Now you’re MY b***h!”
“But--you obey me!” he cried.
Chromia threw Elita over her shoulder and followed the guys.
Firefly grabbed the controller and pressed THE BUTTON. She then shot the controller so it melted in place in the down position. She laughed as Megatron screamed like girl. “How do you like it?” she said. “Doesn’t feel very good does it?” She glanced up at all the Autobots leaving and then back down at the large helpless form beneath her. “You’re in luck. I’d kill you now, but MY leader is calling me.”
Jazz staggered to the door. “Firefly, come on!”
“I’m comin’! I’m comin’!” she called.
‘Bee struggled to his feet, leaning against the wall and anything else he can find. He fell to his knees and started to crawl, barely awake. Firefly had started to fly off but turned to kick Starscream and Soundwave both in the head before flying up to Bumblebee. “Let me help,” she said, landing on the ground beside him.
He looked up at her and smiled. “Thanks.”
She shook her head. “No thanks is needed.” She put him in this misery, it’d only be right to help him now.
The Autobots all made it outside in various states of misery. Ironhide asked, “Prime, can you transform?”
Shakily, he replied. “I think so. I can try, but I don’t know if I can drive.”
"Transform so we can put the hurt ones in your trailer, and I'll tow you,” Ironhide said. “We might be able to go faster that way.”
Before Optimus had time to transform, Firefly flew up out of nowhere and hugged his neck. “Thank you for saving me, even though I didn’t really deserve it.”
He was surprised. “Of course we saved you, little one. You are one of us. But could you please let go now? You’re hurting me.”
“Oh! Sorry!” she said, letting go. He coughed and stepped back.
Optimus transformed slowly, with effort. “Load everyone in, Ironhide.” When everyone was loaded in and ready, they rolled for base. In a transmission, he said, “Strike team incoming. Multiple injuries. Get the repair bay ready.”
“I read you, Prime,” Wheeljack replied. “Did you get Firefly?”
“Affirmative. She will need work, but she’s an Autobot again.” Prime and the others pulled up to base where Ratchet, Wheeljack, and Skyfire were waiting outside for them.
Optimus was covered in dents and melted spots even in his truck mode. Ironhide was towing him, with difficulty, looking a little better than his colleague. Firefly was zooming above them, a little loopy, but with blue eyes and weapons retracted.
“Oh my goodness! What happened?” Ratchet asked, not really expecting an answer.
Firefly sank to the ground, looking away from everyone, standing there looking out of place. Skyfire was nearby. “I will take care of you, Firefly, since I am the largest. I’m sorry, sweetheart, but we cannot take risks until we know you are recovered from your ordeal. I may have to sedate you as a precaution.”
“No sorries needed,” she replied, without even looking up.
Skyfire held out his arms. “I won’t hurt you, and I won’t do anything you don’t tell me to do. I just need to make sure you are all right. Come here. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
Optimus was watching but was also getting impatient. “Ironhide, would you kindly unload me?” Not a single soul moved, trying not to startle Firefly.
She felt awkward with everybody staring at her, waiting for her to do something. She walked forward toward Skyfire and with a small smile said, “Let’s git ‘r done,” quoting comedian Larry the Cable Guy.
Skyfire chucked. “Come along, then.” Firefly ducked under his arm and snuggled against his chest, which wasn’t something she’d usually do but it was good to feel safe.
Ironhide broke away from Optimus and transformed. “Sure, Prime.” He took Jazz, Wheeljack took Elita, and Ratchet helped Bumblebee limp inside. Optimus transformed slowly and followed them.
“Ratchet, I don’t feel so well…” ‘Bee said.
“Of course not, you got pretty beaten up,” Ratchet replied.
“No, I mean it. I don’t feel good.” They were outside the repair bay when Bumblebee suddenly collapsed, his optics flickering.
Ratchet caught him. “Okay, you first.”
“No, I think we need to work on Elita first. She’s got a lot of damage,” Wheeljack said.
Ratchet, shaking his head, replied, “Elita’s stronger. She’ll be all right for a while. Bumblebee needs to be repaired now.”
The rest of the Autobots filed in and plopped down on the floor. “D**n man! That’s twice in one day I’ve been shot!” Jazz said.
Optimus leaned his head against the wall. “I was electrocuted, Jazz. I win.”
Next to them, Elita woke up. “Where are we?” she mumbled.
Quickly, Prime leaned down. “Elita, are you all right?”
She rolled over. “I don’t know…something hurts, but I’m not sure what…where are we? Where’s Firefly?”
“We’re back home,” Ironhide answered. “Firefly is with Skyfire. She’s okay.”
Elita tried to sit up, but Optimus placed a hand on her shoulder. “No, stay down. Don’t try to move yet.”
She looked up at him. “Oh, Optimus! What happened to you?”
“I was electrocuted. It’s nothing. I will be fine,” Optimus said. Jazz snorted, thinking, ‘So much for “I win.”’ Prime turned to give him a look.
When he turned back around, he got a different look from Elita. “That looks like a little more than ‘nothing’ and ‘fine.’”
Ironhide laughed. “You don’t learn, do you, Prime?”
“Elita, really. Don’t worry about me.” Optimus covered the black spot on his arm. He sighed tiredly.
“Sometimes, Optimus, you make me laugh,” she replied. “As if I won’t worry while you’re sitting next to me, smoking and melted.”
“I will admit, I have a terrible headache,” Optimus said.
After a few brief moments of silence, Chromia blurted, “Would anyone like to talk about the fact that I’m the one who actually corrected her programming?”
Ironhide gave her a peck on the cheek. “There’s your reward.” That earned him a smack.
“Can we knock off the bickering for a few minutes?” Jazz asked rhetorically. Chromia smacked him too and he screamed. That was more painful than expected, he thought. He tipped sideways until he was laying on the floor. “I give up. Wake me when it’s my turn.” He noticed he was right across from Elita. “Hi.”
Elita sighed. “Drama queen.”
“Shut up. I don’t have a giant Optimus to protect me like you do,” he replied.
“What happened to ‘Wake me when it’s my turn’?” she asked.
“You started talking.” He pointedly turned his head away.
It was only a few moments until Chromia said, “I love that in the day-to-day we are so calm and dignified, but when we’re hurt, it all goes out the window.”
Ironhide nodded. “Except for the twins. They act like this all the time.”
“That’s because nobody gives a hoot,” Elita said. “No energy to put forth of any kind.”
“That’s for sure,” Optimus agreed.
Jazz pretended to snore and Ironhide kicked him. “Can it,” Ironhide bellowed.
Jazz stopped snoring, but only to say, “If you’ll supply the can.”
“What would you like in your can?” Chromia asked.
Optimus shook his head and laughed softly. “I do not like how this conversation is going.”
Jazz ignored his comment, responding to Chromia, “Huh…I think I want your nonexistent databank. At least then we’ll know where it went.”
Chromia lunged at Jazz, but Ironhide yanked her back. “What? I wasn’t gonna hurt him,” she said.
“And how would I know that?” Ironhide asked.
“Take it down a notch. Dignity or no dignity, you’re wasting energy,” Prime said, serious.
Jazz saluted to him, still lying on the floor. “Yes, sir.”
Chromia leaned her head against Ironhide’s shoulder, and he takes her hand. Optimus couldn’t reach Elita’s hand without moving, so he just rested his hand on her ankle. “Elita, your exoskeleton is cold. What’s wrong?”
“Just trying to conserve energy,” she replied. ______________________________________________________
Author's note: Okay...I know that I wanted to type something here...what was it?! Oh yeah...Writing this, along with listening to two certain songs by Linkin Park and the score from the first Transformers movie, made me cry. So, yeah, I get worked up while writing this stuff in about the same way one who's reading it would lol. Those 2 songs I mentioned earlier are called "What I've Done" and "New Divide" and my sources say they already had something to do with Transformers anyway. ^_^ I love these songs. They're probably my new fave songs...THANKS ELPHIE FOR RPING W/ ME! And sending me the songs. ;D Hope you all enjoyed this piece! I can't wait to rp and write the next one!
